Acme Adventure and Treks
Mountaineering Royalty
Before your expedition begins, all climbers must obtain a permit, known as a mountaineering royalty, issued by Nepal's Department of Tourism. This fee grants you the official right to attempt your chosen peak. The amount varies by mountain height, season, and citizenship. This guide is designed to make the process clear and transparent, so there are no surprises as you prepare for your climb. Acme Adventure and Treks handles all permit applications on your behalf.
What the royalty covers
The mountaineering royalty is a government-issued permit fee only. It does not include:
Guide, Sherpa, and high-altitude porter fees
Base camp logistics, equipment hire, or transport
Rescue and medical evacuation insurance (compulsory, Acme can advise on approved providers)
Any services provided by Acme Adventure and Treks
Your full expedition package, including all services, will be quoted separately by Acme Adventure and Treks.

Planning guidelines for your expedition
Book early, 6 to 9 months in advance
Permit fill months in advance. We recommend contacting Acme at least 6–9 months before your intended summit window.
Spring is the peak season
March to May offers the most stable weather windows, and the highest demand royalty fees are at their highest during this period.
Insurance is compulsory
Nepal requires all high-altitude climbers above 5,000m to carry adequate rescue and medical evacuation insurance. Acme can guide you to approved providers.
Fees are per person
Royalty fees are charged per climber. Group discounts do not apply to government permit fees, but Acme can help optimise your overall expedition cost.
Ama Dablam is price-stable
Mt. Ama Dablam carries the same $1,000 fee in both Spring and Autumn (foreign climbers), making it one of the more predictable peaks for budget planning.
Acme handles your permit. Acme manages all applications, liaison officer arrangements, and royalty payments as part of your expedition.
